What is bounce rate

Bounce rate (bounce rate) is a metric in web analytics that measures the percentage of visitors who leave a web page immediately after viewing just one page. In other words, it's the percentage of visitors who “bouncer” out of the site instead of continuing to navigate through multiple pages in the same session.

Why is bounce rate useful?

Bounce rate provides an indication of how engaging and relevant visitors find the site's content at first glance. A high bounce rate may indicate that:

  • Visitors do not find what they are looking for quickly enough.
  • The content or page is not relevant to the needs or expectations of visitors.
  • There are issues with the usability, loading times or other technical functionality.

One drawback is that bounce rate alone does not always provide complete context. For example, some pages may have a high bounce rate because they are landing pages (e.g. the contact us page) where visitors find what they are looking for quickly and leave.
Another disadvantage is that bounce rate does not take into account which source visitors come from and the differences from source to source, so it must be considered when analyzing it.

To optimize and improve your site's performance, it's important to look at bounce rate along with other relevant metrics like session duration, conversion rate, and user engagement to get a better picture.
